No salary for government employees on “unauthorised absence” from September

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday announced that it would not release salary to government employees who remain on unauthorised absence from duty from the month of September.

“Salary of the employees who remain on unauthorized absence from duty shall not be released and action under rules be initiated against them,” Chief Secretary, B.R. Sharma, has directed.

However, the Sharma said that in view of the ensuing festival of Eid-ul-Zuha festival, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, “while taking a compassionate view” in the matter, directed the release of salary of all the government employees for the month of August.

While reviewing the attendance of employees in government offices, the Chief Secretary reportedly expressed concern about the irregular attendance of a section of employees.

“The Chief Secretary directed the Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments to ensure attendance of all the employees working in their respective departments and subordinate offices without fail,” a statement issued by the government read.
