Clashes break out in Pulwama after local rebel’s killing

PULWAMA: Clashes broke out between police and anti-India demonstrators in Pulwama town of South Kashmir on Friday morning, a day after a local rebel was killed in an encounter with Indian security forces in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Reports said that curfew-like restrictions were imposed in the region but youth defied restrictions and came on roads to protest against death of the rebel – Omais Ahmad Sheikh – who was affiliated to Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit.

The demonstrating youth pelted stones in forces deployment in the region who responded with tear smoke shelling.
