PDP disowns resigning leader but records expose party’s bogus claim

SRINAGAR: The ruling Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday disowned Nisar Ahmad Mandoo who earlier in the day announced resignation from the party as senior vice-president of Srinagar district.

Mandoo said he failed to bear the pain over continuous civilian killings.

A news report by KNS (news agency) quoted a party spokesperson saying that Mandoo was not associated with the party. “He was neither engaged with any party activity nor is a member of the party by virtue of record,” he said.

The party spokesperson also said Mandoo was absconding for two years. “Both Mandoo and Hafiz (his associate) are claiming their association with the PDP just to earn publicity,” the spokesperson said.

However, the party, including party President Mehbooba Mufti, publically condoled the demise of Mandoo’s mother 20 months back.

According to a news report published by various newspapers on January 23, 2015, the party termed him “senior vice district president, Srinagar,” and his mother’s demise was condoled by many senior party leaders, some of whom are ministers in Jammu and Kashmir presently.
