SRINAGAR: Joint separatist leadership of Kashmir on Tuesday extended the ongoing shutdown and protest programme by eight more days, upto September 16.
The separatists have asked people to follow their protest programme. Here is what they have called for.
September 9 (Friday): No relaxation in shutdown. District level ‘azadi march’ towards respective district headquarters, and Friday’s congregational prayers at the respective venues.
September 10 (Saturday): Relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am. ‘Freedom sit-in’ protest on streets from afternoon Zuhr prayer to late afternoon Asr prayer. Protest with flags, banners and placards with messages ‘We Want Freedom’ and ‘Go India Go Back’.
September 11 (Sunday): Relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am. Assessment driver for Eid-ul-Azha to prepare a list of the needy.
September 12 (Monday): Relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am. One day ‘azadi convention’ from 11 am to 3 pm in every locality. “Deliberate and discuss ways and means to strengthen the ongoing movement for right to self-determination.”
September 13 (Tuesday): Relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am. Celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with austerity, jointly offer ritual animal sacrifice and have joint community lunch under the monitoring of local committees. Donate animal skins to local charitable committees for the support of the families with low income. Eid-ul-Azha ‘Azadi March’ towards district, tehsil and town level Eidgahs. Afternoon march towards the United Nations Office at Sonawar, Srinagar, to submit a memorandum for the 71st Session of General Assembly of United Nations starting on September 13. Prayer leaders to preside over a pledge to continue the freedom struggle and boycotting all “pro-occupation” parties and leaders, elections, election rallies and election machinery. Carry flags, banners and placards with slogans ‘We want freedom’ and ‘Go India Go Back’.
September 14 (Wednesday): Relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am. Occupy highway and inter-district roads from Banihal to Uri from Zuhr to Asr prayer. Offer afternoon Zuhr prayer on roads.
September 15 (Thursday): Relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am. Paint roads, inner-lanes, walls and polls with “resistance slogans”. Offer afternoon Zuhr prayer on roads and protest from Zuhr to Asar prayer.
September 16 (Friday): “Locally identify and march towards the Grand Mosques in the native areas of martyrs of present people’s uprising for freedom. Post Friday prayer, hold freedom congregations and pay homage to the martyrs and pledge to take the mission of these martyrs to its final goal.”
Directions for all days: “Protests to be held across Jammu and Kashmir. Shutdown across J&K on all days except the relaxation mentioned in the program. Lockdown all the routes entering your mohallas, villages and localities by every means during night to protect people in general and youth in particular from the raids and arrests by Indian forces and J&K police. Play Islamic and Azadi taranas from Magrib to Isha on every day. Paste this protest programme poster on the entrance of every mosque and in market places, Maohalla’s and local Chowks.”
