SRINAGAR: A young boy from Kashmir – Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan – secured second position in Indian civil services examination, result of which was declared on Tuesday.

Union Public Service Commission declared the result on its website today, announcing the selection of 1078 candidates for civil services. The exam is one of the toughest in India and nearly five lack candidates appeared for the exam in 2015, result of which was declared today.

Delhi’s Tina Dabi topped the list, followed by Athar from Jammu and Kashmir. Interestingly, Athar appeared in the selection list last year too, becoming the youngest Kashmiri, 22, to qualify the exam. However, he had planned to reappear in the exam to aim for a higher rank.

Athar is from Devipora Mattan area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district and graduated as an engineering student from Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi, last year.
