SRINAGAR: Hundreds of mourners participated in funeral procession of civilian who was killed during a gunfight between armed anti-India rebels and government forces in Pampore area of southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday evening.
The deceased – Abdul Gani Mir – worked as a gardener at Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Pampore where the rebels took refuge after attacking a bus of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) which was part of a convoy.
The funeral process was held at his native village Gundipora in Pulwama district on Monday morning.
Mir initially sustained bullet injuries and was shifted to SMHS hospital in state’s summer capital Srinagar, where he later succumbed to injuries.
48-year-old Mir was the only bread earner in his family and is survived by his parents, wife, son and two daughters.
