Release of election manifestos a crude joke: Geelani

SRINAGAR – Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Saturday while lamenting at pro-Indian political parties said that release of election manifestos is a crude joke in presence of ‘eight lakh’ armed personnel and 28 thousand village defense committees.

While terming election manifesto of mainstream parties a sort of ‘lollipop’, Geelani questioned their credibility. “These are meaningless as they have been framed by the masters sitting in Delhi. It speaks the insolvency of their thinking.” While strongly criticizing these parties, Geelani maintained they have “tarnished the history and they are responsible for suppression and played a key role in creating political uncertainty and chaos in State.”

“The crime they committed against Kashmir demands that they should be indicted for their wrong doings in a court of justice. They pretend to be as saviors. They are instrumental for strengthening the control of India over Kashmir. They are responsible and tormented our sovereignty,” Geelani alleged.

He said that there is nothing to hide and “it is a fact that India occupied state and this historic fact is no more a secret or veiled.”

“Kashmir issue tops in UN agenda and India is a signatory for almost 18 resolutions passed for resolving this issue. People of Jammu and Kashmir have never accepted the forced occupation and Indian hegemony and lakhs of our sacrifices stand witness to this fact,” he said and added that killing still goes unabated “and we are being tortured and thousands are still languishing in jails.”

While lashing at contesting political parties he said, “They are trying to undermine the cherished sacrifices and are in league with armed forces that looted our natural resources, occupied our forests, orchards. Thousands disappeared during forces custody and it is not known who were buried is in 7680 unmarked graves. How can we ignore  screams of Asiya and Neelofar.”
