Geelani calls for strike, protests over Modi’s visit to Kashmir

SRINAGAR – The Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday called for strike and peaceful protests against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kashmir on Thursday, October 23.

Party spokesperson Ayaz Akbar told JandK Now that his visit on Diwali instead of Eid reflected his communal mindset. “Kashmir is under forceful occupation. The Indian government left Kashmiri people to die during floods,” he said.

The Indian Prime Minister has announced that he will celebrate Diwali with flood victims in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
