Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government suddenly withdrew the statement that it issued Friday evening announcing the school level examination schedule of Kashmir region. The government did not mention any specific reason for withdrawing of the statement.
The government had mentioned that Deputy Chief Minister – Tara Chand -conducted a high-level meeting wherein it was decided that the annual examination for class 10 and 12 would be conducted in first week of November whereas the exams for classes 1 to 9 and 11 would be conducted this month itself.
However, the government later announced withdrawing of the statement without mentioning any reason. In a statement, government spokesperson said that the press release that they issued earlier today may be treated ‘withdrawn’. “Inconvenience regretted,” it added.
Pertinently, students expressed strong resentment on social media websites after government announced the schedule despite demands from education activists for delayed exams in view of the recent flood fury in Kashmir. Students alleged government of ‘very short notice’.
