Kashmir CM happy over Pakistan PM’s decision to attend Modi’s oath-taking ceremony

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday expressed his delight over Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s decision of accepting the invitation given by Bharatiya Janata Party’s Prime Ministerial designate Narendra Modi to his oath-taking ceremony.

“Very glad to hear Pak PM has accepted invite, shows that he can prevail over forces inimical to good relations with India”, Omar tweeted this afternoon. In the succeeding tweet, Omar also expressed anticipation for good relations between the two neighbouring countries. “I hope that this will mark a new beginning in ties between our two countries”, he stated adding that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be “watching closely”.

The last in the series of three tweets, Omar expressed the prime importance of the ceremony underlined by Sharif’s presence. “Can’t help feel sorry for others taking oath or attending because the only photo op that will matter now will be the Modi-Sharif handshake”, he wrote.
