Army deployed in Jammu and Kashmir claimed to have recovered two high range rocket launchers from Teetwal sector of frontier Kupwara district on Wednesday. Such high end device has been recovered for the first time since militancy started in Kashmir.
Sources said that the devices have very high range and could be used from a distance. “This is for the first time that such high end launchers have been recovered. Army experts will examine them in coming days”, they said.
According to the official sources, the recovery was made during a search operation by Army’s 21 Grenadiers at Khakhar area near Rivery Kishan Ganga. The search operation was launched after Army observed suspicious movement in the area.
Army also recovered two improvised explosive devices weighing 1.5 kg and some clothing. The explosives were diffused by the military engineering wing on the hills. Reports said that it created loud sound causing panic in the nearly villages.
Police have registered a case in this regard and taken up the investigation.
