Police have arrested five people accused of gambling in Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital, Srinagar. The group was arrested while gambling at a public place in Khanyar area of downtown City.
A case has been registered against the arrestees under section 13 of the Gambling Act at police station Soura. Moreover, police claim to have recovered over three thousand rupees of stake money and playing cards from the gambling site.
The arrestees were identified as Imran Ahmad Beigh son of Abdul Ahad resident of Iqbal Colony Soura, Adil Ahmad Mir son of Javid Ahmad resident of Khalmula Nagbal, Shahid Khan son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Bilal Colony, Soura, Nadeem Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Natipora, and Umer Shafi son of Mohammad Shafi resident of Khanyar.
Meanwhile, police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district arrested a drug peddler from whose possession they recovered 250 grams of Charas. Police registered a case in this regard. The investigation has been taken up.
Police identified the arrestee as Shabir Ahmad Shah son of Mohammad Yousuf resident of Devsar, Kulgam.
