Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir claim to have killed seven unidentified ‘militants’ in an encounter in a forest area in frontier Kupwara district on Monday. The encounter was on when this report was filed. Sources said that three more militants were under trap.
The encounter took place at Lolab forests near Dardpora village. Sources said that Army cordoned off the area on the apprehensions of the presence of militants. However, during the search operation the hiding militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter, the official sources said.
A fierce gunfight then continued between the troopers and the militants till late evening, till Army killed seven militants. Army had sent additional forces to the encounter site soon after the encounter started.
Meanwhile, a defense spokesperson said that they recovered a huge cache of arms and other ‘war like stores’ from the encounter site.
